Institution and its activities :
 
Implementation of the Programme of Action of NPE (1986), the UGC has set up academic staff colleges in the country to improve the professional skills of teachers in higher education . Teachers are the future leaders of the business of education. Therefore , they must develop an understanding of the dynamics of working in the education system . The role of the CSA is to instill an appropriate teaching and research skills among participants RC / OC and give them the opportunity to discuss , reflect and introspect social expectations . The Executive Council (now the Board of Management) at its meeting held on 31-12-1987 accepted the UPS sponsored by UGC in this university as per Govt. No.UGC/1487-719/UNI-3/Cell Resolution dated July 8, 1987 . Accordingly, the UGC established the NCP in the university in October 1987. College teachers in the university staff organize orientation course designed with the improvement of teacher understanding of social problems and find appropriate solutions aims to instil teaching skills , providing them with skills professional management, and developing them into dynamic and integrated personalities. The CSA also organizes courses in different topics for updating and improving the knowledge of teachers and form in the latter processes , methods and techniques of teaching .

ELIGIBILITY , TARGET GROUP AND DURATION:
Lecturers in universities and colleges which are included in Section 2 ( f) of the UGC Act , even though they may not yet be able to be included in Section 12 (B) may be invited to participate orientation programs and development . College teachers who have not yet come within the scope of Article 2 ( f) , but they were affiliated with a university for at least two years, will be allowed to participate in programs / courses .

For newly appointed until six years of continuous service and all the teachers who need guidance in order to obtain a higher grade will be allowed faculty orientation programs . Participation should be a condition for confirmation and the same course will be counted for promotion to the senior level.

For refresher courses , participation in the orientation program is a prerequisite for admission. However, in exceptional cases, a teacher may be allowed to complete a refresher course before the completion of an orientation program . In addition, there should be a minimum of one year gap between classes , even if it can be relaxed if a sufficient number of participants is not available or it is essential for the teacher to meet the eligibility for career advancement .

The Orientation Program will be for a period of four weeks, with a minimum of 24 working days ( except Sundays) and 144 contact hours ( six hours per day ) . The refresher course will be for a period of three weeks, with a minimum of 18 working days (except Sundays ) and 108 contact hours ( six hours per day ) . If a participant fails to meet the required contact hours in a program , it may be entitled to offset the hours of backlog at own cost in another program by the ASC concerned.

Part time / hoc / temporary / teachers who taught for at least three academic sessions in an institution that was affiliated to a university for at least two years of advertising contracts may be allowed to participate in the orientation course / recycling program improve their skills.

Universities and colleges allow teachers interested in participating in the UGC -ASC programs based on their eligibility. Otherwise valid reasons will be suggested to the teacher concerned as courses organized by their teachers will ultimately university and college. Interim arrangements in place MPs teachers for these courses can be made by internal adjustment if necessary. However, it may not be possible for the Commission to provide an additional grant to either pay a fee or salary replacement, if appointed .

2 . COURSE CONTENTS AND course coordinators :
Each refresher course , the kick zone should be given by the head of the department concerned in consultation with the Director of the CSA. The contents of each refresher course and a list of resources who will be invited , will be prepared by the Course Coordinator , Head of concern about in consultation with the Director , ASC . For each course , a coordinator is appointed by the Vice-Chancellor, in consultation with the Academic Staff College . To achieve the objective of the CSA , after four components have been prescribed by the UGC for the orientation course : -

    Part A: Awareness of the links between society, the environment, development and education
    Component B: philosophy of education , the system of Indian education and pedagogy .
    Component C: awareness of resources and the production of knowledge
    Component D : Management and Personality Development .


3 . ACCOMMODATION: -
Participants RC / OC are housed in the home of professors and teachers Tagore inn come, first served basis first .

4 . TA / DA / incidental expenses of participants Outstation :
Participants of the teacher may be paid A / C III railway fare (all trains) or A / C deluxe bus fare on production of tickets. Outstation participants can be provided free boarding and lodging by the University. To cover the cost of boarding / lodging, the Commission will give Rs University . 300 / - per day for outstation participants for cities 'A' Rs . 250 / - per day for other locations. In the case where one is provided free housing , DA will be allowed 75 percent of the standard rate of per diem . In case the participant outstation not enjoy the facility for boarding / lodging, he / she will be paid Rs . 250 / - per day .

Local participants :
Rs . 100 / - per day per participant will be paid to the CSA to provide hospitality. In the event that a local participant does not benefit from the installation of hospitality by the ASC , he / she will be paid Rs . 100 / - per working day.

5. Objectives of the CSA
The National Policy on Education (NPE ) 1986 and its program of action makes reference to named crucial link between the motivation of teachers and quality of education. The NPE has recognized the need to improve the quality of teaching and offered to provide opportunities for professional and career development so that teachers can fulfill their role and responsibility within the system of higher education . It has been proposed to improve their motivational skills and knowledge through systematic orientation in specific areas , techniques and methodologies , and instil in them the right kind of values ​​which in turn encourage them to take initiatives for innovative and creative work.
Keeping in view the above objectives , the following measures were proposed:
a) Conduct orientation specially designed educational psychology and philosophy , and socio -economic and political concerns for all new entrants in teacher programs (OPs ) in pedagogy ;
b ) to organize the orientation and development programs (CR) for serving teachers , covering all teachers at least once in three to five years;
c ) To organize orientation programs designed / refresher courses in IT for newcomers as well as for in-service teachers ;
d) To encourage teachers to participate in seminars , symposia , workshops, etc.
To achieve the above, a system implementing college academic staff (CSA) in the appropriate universities in the country was initiated by the University Grants Commission ( UGC) .

objectives:
The objectives of the School academic staff ( CSA) is to allow newly appointed lecturers to:
a . understand the importance of education in general and higher education in particular, in the global and Indian contexts ;
b . understand the links between education and economic development and socio- economic and cultural development with particular reference to Indian politics where democracy , secularism and social justice are the basic principles of society reference ;
c . acquire and improve the art of teaching at the college / university level to achieve the objectives of higher education ;
d. keep abreast of the latest developments in their specific subjects ;
e . understand the organization and management of a college / university and to perceive the role of teachers in the whole system ;
f . use the possibilities of the development of personality , initiative and creativity;
g . promote computer literacy and the use of ICT in the teaching and learning process.

6 . Valuation model
The written examination of all participants must be conducted during the last week of classes . In order to obtain complete coverage of the course, the coordinator must ask five objective questions each contact alongwith answers and should keep it confidential . Document issue should be resolved by the bank to assess the performance of prarticipants . The distribution of marks is as follows -
      i) multiple choice objective test 30 brands
      ii ) Seminars Presentations 15 points
      iii ) Project / Survey / 20 Other brands
      iv ) Disposal / Education / Participation Micro 10 points
      v) holistic response 25 brands
( Punctuality , regularity , initiative, leadership, responsiveness etc. )

      Grade A 75% marks or above
      Grade B 60% marks or more but less than 75%
      Grade C for 50 % to less than 60%
      Arrow D less than 50%
Participants who obtain D state are required to retake the course after a break of a year to his / her own cost.
